I can't remember the last time I made french toast. Which is odd because its one of my favorite breakfasts and for good reason since:
1. It's easy & quick 2. It's delicious 3. It requires basic ingredients 4. It can easily feed a crowd 5. The topping/flavor options are endless! 6. It fills you up 7. It's french toast!!! haha For those of you thinking that you can only have french toast on the weekends, I have good news for you: you can make it any day of the week. Why? Because it takes approximately the same time as regular scrambled eggs and toast, AND they require pretty much the same basic ingredients. Another option would be to make them ahead of time, and in the morning you just heat them up in the microwave, stove, or toaster and you're good to go. Or, if you're the type of person that eats your breakfast at work, these are GREAT to make ahead, store on a microwave-safe container, and reheat! So tell me, have I already convinced you to make these french toast any day of the week? I'll just let you continue to the recipe and you can tell me about it in the comments below haha. RECIPE: (for 1 person) - 2 slices bread (I like Whole Grain Sprouted Bread) - 1 whole egg - splash of milk (I like almond milk) - 1/4 tsp vanilla extract - 1/2 tsp brown sugar, coconut sugar, maple syrup, or sweetener of choice - fat pinch of salt - cinnamon - butter or oil (to cook the french toast) OPTIONAL TOPPINGS: - Banana, berries, or fruit of choice! - Peanut Butter (I like the salted kind) or butter - dash of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice - a drizzle of maple syrup, raw honey, or just plain because they're THAT good. DIRECTIONS: - Make a batter with the egg, milk, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon (mixing it till well combined). - Heat a non-stick pan to medium-high and spray with non-stick spray. - Dip both slices of the bread in the batter till its used up. - Cook bread in the pan (about 2-3 mins per side) on Medium heat. - Plate your french toast and top with your favorite toppings, (especially with more cinnamon).
